THE GIFT OF NOTHING

Whoever said that picture books are just for children really didn’t know what he/she was talking about. Whoever said picture books are just for learning the ABCs also didn’t know what he/she was talking about.

The gift of nothing is a book that both adults and children can share. It’s a book where I can imagine discovering over and overĀ  again with either the students I teach, or someday, the children I might have.

The story revolves around a cat, Mooch and his dilema of wanting to get Early, his best friend a gift. The title exaplains itself, because Mooch, decided to give his friend, NOTHING! So the book is his journey to find ‘nothing’ and present this to Earl.

This book teaches us one important lesson that we sometimes take for granted. That happiness comes not from having material things, but from having the company of a true friend. Children who read this book will grow up remembering this. Adults who read this book will be reminded that life is about the relationships we have and not the mad rat race that we sometimes get sucked into once we reach a certain age.
