THE LION KING

I know this movie like I know the back of my hand. I know this movie like I know the happy moments of my childhood. I know this movie caused me to have an asthma attack after watching it at a very young age.
This movie inspired me to make movies a part of my life, to always find inspiration in movies that touch my soul, to always find the hidden meaning behind every movie, because ANY movie, be it a cartoon, comedy, drama, suspense, horror – any single type of movie has one thing in common – a message. A message to educate the public, to educate it’s viewers.
They don’t make cartoons like The Lion King anymore. A cartoon that captures growing up, captures love, friendship, family, and responsibility – all the ‘good’ qualities that a young child should learn. On the other hand it also shows the greed that someone will have through wanting power, the extend at which a person with evil intentions will go to in order to get what he wants – power.
I have watched this movie so many times that I have lost count of the exact number. Every single time I watch it though – it inspires me and brings me close to tears. This movie taught me that every single one of us – no matter how small, has a purpose and a destiny in life. It taught me the circle of life, how every animal, every grass, everything has a place on this Earth.
It taught me that what is rightfully yours can never ever be taken away from you. But sometimes we have to work and fight hard in order to get it. The whole journey of losing oneself and finding oneself again helps us grow, helps us become who we are meant to be.
I have watched this movie so many times that I know the script. My friend once watched it with me, and she got so irritated at me because I kept saying the script along with the characters in the movie. But I personally smile to myself because I am not embarrassed to admit that a cartoon is my favourite movie of all time.
The messages and lessons that I have learnt from this simple movie will always stay close to my heart, no matter how old I grow.
Hopefully someday, if I have children of my own, I will show this movie to them so that they get feel what I felt when I watched it at such a young age.
