TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS by THE ATARIS
If you could go anywhere right now,
where would you go?
And would you miss me when you get there?
Listening to these words as I am either on a train, or plane, or just relaxing, trying to get my bearings before I do whatever it is I am supposed to do is amazing. It brings me away from the madness and reality that is life – be it a hard day at work or with the family. Just listening to these words brings me away, thinking about places where I’d rather be – somewhere exotic, far away from where I am currently am – be it watching a sunset in Paris, drinking coffee in some cafĂ© in Amsterdam or back packing through India.
When I am in a plane, waiting for it to take off so that I can begin my adventure, the moments before we are supposed to shut off all our electronic devises- hand phones, disc man, Ipod etc, this song is perfect to capture the moment, the anticipation. The song continues to linger on in my mind even after my Ipod is switched off; when my eyes are closed, just feeling the plane lift off, imagining what awaits me in a foreign land.
Passport, customs, carry on, remember
To shut off all of your electronic devices
Most importantly, this song always makes me imagine what it feels like to have someone important to share my life with – going on adventures with him or even staying back, waiting for this special someone to come back and share his tales with me.
If you could go anywhere right now
Where would you go?
And would you miss me when you get there?
There’s no place that I would rather be
Please don’t let me go falling from the sky
The “fasten seatbelt” sign just needs to go out
If only you could be right here by my side
Home wouldn’t seem so far from here
